Our Commitment to Continuous Improvement
Sustainability in action – it’s not a destination—it’s a journey of continual evaluation, improvement and innovation. As a Green Tourism Gold Award holder and Runner-Up in the Regenerative Tourism category at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2025/26, we are committed to ensuring that every aspect of our business evolves in a way that benefits both our guests and the environment.
We believe that meaningful environmental progress comes from making thoughtful decisions every day. By reviewing our operations, products and guest experience on an ongoing basis, we can identify opportunities to reduce our impact while maintaining the high standards our guests expect.
Prioritising Strategic Environmental Enhancements
Our sustainability programme is focused on strategic, long-term improvements rather than one-off initiatives. We carefully assess where changes can deliver genuine environmental benefits while enhancing the quality of our guest experience.
Whether it’s reducing waste, eliminating unnecessary plastics, improving energy efficiency or supporting responsible suppliers, we seek solutions that create lasting positive change. These decisions are not always the most visible, but collectively they contribute to a more sustainable future.
A Plastic-Free July Step Forward
As part of our ongoing commitment, we are celebrating Plastic-Free July by replacing traditional sponge scourers, which contain plastic, with Seep Eco Sponge Scourers made from natural materials.
This simple switch reflects our belief that small changes matter. The scourers are durable, dishwasher washable and designed to last around a month, helping to reduce plastic waste from everyday household cleaning.
To share this initiative with our guests, the next 40 visitors will receive a complimentary Seep scourer and a plastic-free kitchen cloth to take home, allowing them to continue their sustainability journey beyond their stay. See our what’s included information.
Sustainability as the New Luxury
Today’s luxury experience is about more than comfort and quality. Increasingly, guests are looking for businesses that align with their values and demonstrate genuine environmental responsibility.
We believe that thoughtful choices—from the products we provide to the suppliers we partner with—enhance the guest experience. Sustainable alternatives are no longer compromises; they represent a better way of doing business and a more considered approach to hospitality.
By integrating environmental responsibility into everyday operations, we can offer guests a stay that feels both exceptional and conscientious.
Regenerative Thinking for the Future
Being recognised as a Runner-Up in the Regenerative Tourism category reflects our ambition not only to reduce negative impacts but to contribute positively to the places and communities around us.
Our goal is to continually move forward, learning, adapting and embracing new opportunities to improve. Every change, however small, helps us build a more resilient, responsible and sustainable business.
Looking Ahead
Sustainability is woven into our decision-making and will continue to guide our future investments and improvements. We are proud of the progress we have made, but we are equally excited about what comes next.
Because creating a more sustainable future isn’t about making one perfect change—it’s about making hundreds of better choices, one step at a time.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Sustainability Journey
Why is sustainability important to your business?
We believe that businesses have a responsibility to minimise their environmental impact and contribute positively to the communities and landscapes that make Cornwall such a special place to visit. Sustainability is a key part of our decision-making, helping us create a better experience for guests while protecting the environment for future generations.
What does it mean to be a Green Tourism Gold Award holder?
Green Tourism is a recognised sustainability certification that assesses businesses against a wide range of environmental, social and economic criteria. Achieving Gold status reflects our commitment to responsible business practices and continuous improvement across our operations.
What is regenerative tourism?
While sustainable tourism focuses on reducing negative impacts, regenerative tourism aims to leave places better than we found them. It encourages businesses to actively support local communities, economies, cultures and natural environments. We are proud to have been named Runner-Up in the Regenerative Tourism category at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2025/26, recognising our commitment to this forward-thinking approach.
Why have you replaced your cleaning scourers?
As part of our Plastic-Free July initiative, we have replaced traditional sponge scourers that contain plastic with Seep Eco Sponge Scourers made from natural materials. It is one of many small changes we are making to reduce plastic waste and encourage more sustainable choices.
What are the benefits of the Seep Eco Sponge Scourer?
The Seep Scourer is:
- Made from plants: loofah and wood pulp cellulose
- Durable and effective for everyday cleaning
- Dishwasher washable
- Designed to last for approximately one month with regular use
These qualities make it a practical, lower-impact alternative to many conventional scourers that contain microplastics
Why focus on small changes?
We believe lasting progress is achieved through continuous improvement. While large sustainability projects are important, small changes implemented consistently across a business can collectively make a significant difference. Reviewing products, suppliers, processes and guest amenities allows us to steadily reduce our environmental footprint while maintaining high standards.
How do sustainability initiatives benefit guests?
Many guests actively seek accommodation providers that share their environmental values. Sustainable choices can enhance the guest experience by offering products that are high quality, thoughtfully sourced and better for the environment. We see sustainability as part of modern luxury—where comfort and responsibility go hand in hand.
What other sustainability measures do you have in place?
In addition to our eco energy infrastructure (biomass boiler, borehole and solar panels), our sustainability journey is constantly evolving. We regularly review our operations to identify opportunities to reduce waste, minimise resource consumption, support responsible suppliers and improve our environmental performance. Every year brings new opportunities to learn, improve and make a greater positive impact.
How can guests support your sustainability efforts during their stay?
Guests can help by:
- Recycling where facilities are provided
- Using resources such as water and energy responsibly
- Supporting local businesses and producers
- Reusing items where possible
- Taking advantage of the sustainable products and information available during their stay
Even small actions can make a meaningful difference.
What’s next on your sustainability journey?
We are always looking for opportunities to improve. Sustainability is not a fixed project but an ongoing commitment. We will continue to invest in strategic environmental enhancements, embrace innovation, and seek ways to reduce our impact while delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Together, these small steps help create a more resilient, responsible and regenerative future.
