We all love taking our dogs for a walk on the beach, around the countryside, and in the ‘Central Bark’ dog park here at Kernock Cottages. No matter how much fun we have, there is often that issue when you get home – of having a dirty dog.
It can be all hands to the wheel while you’re taking off your boots/shoes and coat, and trying to stop he or she from running into the cottage, spreading their mud and other bits of attached nature around your clean surroundings. “Can someone please carry the dog while I go and run the shower/bath”, is the common cry.
We have installed our first warm dog shower outside one of the Kernock cottages, and it’s proving very popular with our guests. It’s also proving popular with the dogs who would normally expect an outside wash to mean ‘COLD’. Not only that, but during the dry summer weather the warm shower also proved excellent for both sandy children and sandy feet.
The benefits are fourfold: convenience; reducing the amount of dirt brought into the cottages and hence the environmental impact of more cleaning later; using less water with a shower outside than using a bath of water; and happy guests, happy dogs and sometimes, happy feet too!
